Industry Leading Manufacturer of Wastewater Drainage Solutions Installs EnterScape Utility Recon System
NEW ALBANY, Ind., and WINCHESTER, Ky. – One of the world’s largest injection mold companies has installed energy management technology developed and commercialized by EnterScape™, a company in the Purdue Research Park of Southeast Indiana.
Infiltrator Systems Inc. leaders have selected UtilityRecon 2.0, an industrial monitoring software platform, for their Winchester, Ky., plant. UtilityRecon 2.0 was launched by EnterScape at the 2012 World Energy Engineering Congress in Atlanta.
Howard Kietz, facility manager at Infiltrator Systems Inc., and his colleagues needed a cost-effective system to monitor the company’s plant-wide power usage.
“We chose EnterScape after meeting with them and seeing their capabilities. We could save more than $100,000 using their technology,” he said. “The experience has been a positive one as they have bent over backward to provide us with a system that meets our current needs and budget, yet is expandable for future needs.”
Kietz said the system’s features include load-shedding controls to monitor total energy consumption and trigger an event to reduce peak demand and charges.
“The dashboard that displays EnterScape’s data shows managers in our plant the current electrical usage and how operational decisions affect energy consumption,” he said. “It also offers a fully customized, interactive facility layout view that includes links to plant photos, dashboard, equipment manuals and IP cameras. This view provides us the perspective on where our data is coming from and makes it very simple to drill down for actionable data.”
Mark Raisor, vice president of business development at EnterScape, said utility monitoring has become a priority for industrial manufacturers for several reasons.
“Reducing greenhouse gas emissions, having ‘big data’ at your fingertips and being a good corporate citizen are not only popular in today’s business environment, but they can affect the operational metrics of a business and have positive impacts to financial performance,” he said. “Our goal has been and always will be to provide business managers with real data collected from their operations so that they can make informed decisions with more accuracy and speed than ever before. It is about working smarter and putting numbers to areas of your business that you may not have thought were possible.”
